Tourist shelter VENDULKA
The aim of this project is to design and create a tourist shelter that serves as a place to rest for hikers in nature. The idea came from my own experience with tourism, where a roof over your head is often appreciated – whether during a sudden change of weather or after a long and exhausting journey.
Although the Czech Republic has a rich tradition of tourism and a dense network of marked trails, its tourist infrastructure – and shelters in particular – still lags behind countries such as Norway, Sweden or Finland. There are still far too few shelters in the Czech Republic compared to these countries, and their design and placement are often very basic. It was exactly this gap that convinced me that the topic is current, meaningful and has a clear potential for improvement.
The shelter is designed as a wooden structure whose appearance fits naturally into the character of the landscape. When choosing the materials, the emphasis was on quality, durability and resistance to long-term exposure to weather effects such as rain, frost or snow load. The goal was to create a structure that keeps its function and appearance for as long as possible without demanding intensive maintenance.
